IND-02 | NanoAnalyzer: Portable Multiplex Point-of-Care Diagnostics for Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)

CEO of INTA at INTA

Pisa, Italy

About

INTA is seeking to join a consortium for HORIZON-HLTH-2027-02-IND-02 (Portable and versatile Point-of-Care Diagnostics) as a technology partner, contributing its proprietary NanoAnalyzer platform for the development, optimisation and clinical validation of rapid multiplex diagnostics for Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).

NanoAnalyzer is a compact, portable, cartridge-based measurement platform designed primarily for multiplex affinity-based biosensing, particularly immunosensing applications relying on antibody–antigen recognition. The system combines Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) microfluidics, biosensing technologies, integrated electronics and AI/ML-assisted data analysis to enable the simultaneous measurement of multiple protein biomarkers from small-volume biological samples.

Traumatic Brain Injury represents INTA's first clinical application. The platform is being developed to analyse a panel of up to six protein biomarkers, including GFAP, UCH-L1, S100B, Tau and NfL. By integrating multiple molecular measurements with machine learning algorithms, the approach aims to improve diagnostic specificity while maintaining high sensitivity, supporting more accurate patient risk stratification in emergency settings.

The expected clinical benefits include faster diagnostic decision-making, potentially reducing unnecessary CT scans, optimising patient management and improving healthcare resource allocation.

INTA has developed the underlying measurement technology and established collaborations with Italian clinical institutions to advance its validation. A Horizon Europe project would support further optimisation of the integrated system, analytical and clinical benchmarking against established diagnostic approaches, multicentre clinical validation and progression towards IVDR regulatory compliance.

INTA can contribute expertise and technologies in:

  • Portable multiplex immunosensing and affinity-based biosensing platforms.

  • Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) microfluidics and acoustic sample manipulation.

  • Biosensor development, cartridge integration and electronic signal acquisition.

  • Multiplex protein biomarker measurement and AI/ML-assisted data analysis.

  • Analytical performance optimisation, reproducibility assessment and benchmarking.

  • Integration of diagnostic technologies into point-of-care clinical workflows.

We are looking to collaborate with universities, research organisations, hospitals, emergency medicine specialists, clinical study coordinators, diagnostic companies and industrial partners interested in developing and validating innovative TBI diagnostic solutions.

INTA aims to participate as a technology provider within a multidisciplinary consortium, combining its proprietary measurement platform with complementary clinical, regulatory and industrial expertise to accelerate the development of accessible, reliable and clinically valuable point-of-care diagnostics for TBI.
