Clinical cardiovascular and cardiorenal use cases for Virtual Human Twins
Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at Università degli Studi di Ferrara
Ferrara, Italy
About
Our clinical research unit, based at the University Hospital of Ferrara (Italy), is interested in contributing to European projects developing Virtual Human Twins and integrated clinical decision-support systems for personalised cardiovascular prevention and diagnosis.
Our expertise in arterial hypertension, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, cardiovascular and renal risk assessment, and hypertension-mediated organ damage provides a clinical foundation for defining and validating computational models of cardiovascular and cardiorenal disease.
Potential clinical use cases
-
Integration of blood pressure profiles, cardiac and vascular parameters, renal function and clinical biomarkers.
-
Personalised cardiovascular and cardiorenal risk assessment in hypertension.
-
Prediction of hypertension-mediated organ damage and disease progression.
-
Sex-specific cardiovascular risk modelling.
-
Long-term cardiovascular risk assessment in women with previous hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.
Expertise offered
Definition of clinically relevant use cases, selection and interpretation of physiological and clinical variables, cardiovascular and renal phenotyping, endpoint definition, clinical validation and assessment of the potential utility of computational models in routine care.
Partners sought
Computational modelling groups, biomedical engineers, AI researchers, cardiovascular imaging specialists, digital health developers and European consortia developing multiscale and multi-organ computational models.
Proposed role
Clinical use-case definition, cardiovascular/cardiorenal phenotyping and clinical validation, working alongside specialised computational and technological partners.
