Exercise Physiology and tracking
Academic - Lab Director - Exercise Physiology at Université Libre de Bruxelles
Brussels, Belgium
About
I'm a University Proffessor, Université libre de Bruxelles, with an exeperise in Integrative Exercise Physiology, Cardiovascular Health and Human Adaptation to Environmental Stressors.
Project Ideas and Research Interests
I am seeking opportunities to join or develop interdisciplinary European research consortia investigating the role of physical activity, exercise and physiological adaptation in human health, performance and resilience.
My research interests include:
-
Cardiovascular and respiratory adaptations to exercise: Understanding the mechanisms governing aerobic exercise capacity, cardiopulmonary haemodynamics, right ventricular function and pulmonary vascular responses.
-
Exercise as a therapeutic intervention: Developing and evaluating exercise-based strategies for the prevention, management and rehabilitation of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases.
-
Human adaptation to extreme environments: Investigating physiological responses to hypoxia, altitude, heat, microgravity and physical deconditioning, with applications to human health and performance.
-
Women's health and exercise physiology: Exploring sex-specific physiological responses, hormonal influences, exercise performance and cardiovascular adaptation.
-
Wearable technologies and digital health: Developing and validating non-invasive physiological monitoring solutions and digital biomarkers for cardiovascular assessment, exercise prescription and personalised health interventions.
Expertise Offered
Advanced cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET), including gas exchange analys
Expertise in exercise as health promotor - Exercise therapy
Expertise in wearable technlogy tracking cardio-vascular events
