Radiobiology, Biomarkers & Computational Modelling for Precision Health
Professor of Radiation Biophysics at National Technical University of Atgens

About
The DNA Damage Laboratory at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece, seeks collaboration opportunities in Horizon Europe Cluster 1 Health 2027 projects.
Our research expertise encompasses radiation-induced DNA damage and repair, radiobiological mechanisms, cellular and molecular biomarkers, radiosensitivity, radiation quality and biological effectiveness, and computational modelling of biological responses. We aim to bridge fundamental mechanisms with translational research through the integration of experimental assays, quantitative modelling and data-driven approaches.
Areas of collaboration
• Environmental health and the human exposome: investigating biological responses to environmental exposures, including oxidative stress, DNA damage, inflammation and related molecular mechanisms, in collaboration with environmental epidemiology and exposome research teams.
• Predictive biomarkers and precision medicine: integrating molecular and cellular biomarkers with computational methods to investigate biological variability, disease progression and treatment response, in appropriate non-communicable disease settings.
• Mechanistic and computational modelling: developing and applying quantitative and multiscale approaches to understand biological responses, including radiation-induced damage, DNA repair and treatment-related effects.
• Translational biomedical research: contributing experimental expertise, biomarker assessment and mechanistic interpretation to multidisciplinary research programmes.
We are particularly interested in joining established or emerging European consortia as a research partner or work-package contributor. We welcome collaboration with universities, research institutes, hospitals, clinical research groups, environmental-health teams, computational biology groups and innovative SMEs.
Our objective is to contribute complementary biological expertise to ambitious, interdisciplinary projects with clear scientific objectives and translational potential.
