Functional Immune Biomarkers, Multi-Omics and AI-Driven Precision Medicine for Chronic Diseases
Tenured Professor at Riga Stradins University

About
PrustyLab seeks to collaborate with clinical and AI-driven research consortia developing predictive biomarkers for chronic diseases, with particular expertise in post-infectious immune dysfunction and molecular disease heterogeneity.
Our group combines molecular virology, immunology, mitochondrial biology and systems-level approaches to investigate complex disease mechanisms. We have developed innovative experimental strategies involving patient-derived immune cells, extracellular ATP-induced functional immune responses, single-cell RNA sequencing, dynamic transcriptional profiling and molecular signatures of immune–metabolic dysfunction.
Our research in ME/CFS, Long COVID and related chronic conditions provides a foundation for exploring how functional cellular responses and molecular signatures may reveal biological disease subgroups not distinguishable through conventional clinical assessments.
We contribute innovative candidate biomarker platforms, including:
-
Ex vivo immune-cell stimulation assays to reveal disease-associated functional abnormalities.
-
scRNA-seq and scSLAM-seq for cellular heterogeneity and transcriptional dynamics.
-
Immune–metabolic and mitochondrial functional profiling.
-
Proteomics and immune–matrix interaction analyses.
-
Multi-omics data generation and experimental validation of AI-prioritised candidate biomarkers.
Partners sought
We seek:
-
Clinical consortia with established, deeply phenotyped longitudinal chronic disease cohorts.
-
Clinical centres specialising in ME/CFS, Long COVID and related chronic immune disorders.
-
AI and machine-learning groups experienced in multimodal data integration, predictive modelling and explainable AI.
-
Biostatisticians, digital health specialists and clinical data infrastructure providers.
-
Diagnostic biotechnology companies and SMEs developing biomarker-based personalised medicine solutions.
-
Clinical trial networks capable of evaluating disease progression and treatment response.
Proposed consortium role
We are interested in leading functional biomarker discovery, mechanistic validation and immune-cell phenotyping work packages, while contributing biological interpretation and experimental validation to AI-driven predictive models.
Our ambition is to combine innovative molecular and functional disease signatures with longitudinal clinical data to advance predictive, biologically informed precision medicine.
