Deciphering Immune Dysregulation, Herpesvirus Reactivation and Host Susceptibility in Adverse Drug Reactions
Tenured Professor at Riga Stradins University

About
PrustyLab seeks to join a clinical and translational consortium investigating the molecular mechanisms, risk factors and personalised prevention of adverse drug reactions associated with polypharmacy.
Our group contributes distinctive expertise in human herpesvirus biology, viral latency and reactivation, host immune responses, mitochondrial dysfunction and molecular immunology. We are particularly interested in severe immune-mediated adverse drug reactions, including Drug Reaction with Eosinophilia and Systemic Symptoms (DRESS), where herpesvirus reactivation and immune dysregulation may influence disease progression.
Our innovative research platforms include single-cell transcriptomics, scSLAM-seq, immune-cell functional assays, herpesvirus molecular diagnostics, immune–metabolic profiling and advanced cellular disease models. These capabilities can help characterise biological heterogeneity, identify candidate susceptibility signatures and investigate interactions between drugs, viral reactivation and host immune responses.
Partners sought
We seek existing consortia or organisations with expertise in:
-
Clinical pharmacology, polypharmacy and adverse drug reactions.
-
Dermatology, allergy and clinical immunology, particularly DRESS and severe cutaneous adverse reactions.
-
Pharmacogenomics, HLA-associated drug susceptibility and pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic modelling.
-
Clinical pharmacovigilance networks, patient registries, longitudinal cohorts and biobanking.
-
AI-based risk prediction and clinical decision-support systems.
-
Pharmaceutical development, regulatory science and personalised medicine.
Proposed consortium role
We offer to lead mechanistic immunology, viral reactivation and molecular phenotyping activities, linking clinical adverse drug reactions with functional immune responses and candidate molecular predictors.
Our objective is to contribute an infection–immunity perspective to personalised drug safety and develop mechanistic evidence that strengthens clinically actionable risk-stratification strategies.
