IA-01: Bacillus-Based Biorefinery for Valorisation of Lignocellulosic Agricultural Residues
Senior European Projects Expert at YTÜ Yıldız Teknopark
Istanbul, Türkiye
About
We are aiming to participate in a proposal under HORIZON-JU-CBE-2026-IA-01: Biotech routes for valorisation of residual biomass, targeting TRL 6–7 demonstration of an integrated and scalable Bacillus-based lignocellulosic biorefinery.
The integrated value chain will include:
• Tailored pretreatment strategies suitable for compositionally variable biomass
• Enzymatic hydrolysis to obtain fermentable sugar fractions
• Fermentation using selected Bacillus strains
Production of high-value products such as:
-
Lactic acid
-
Biosurfactants
-
Industrial enzymes (optional pathway)
• Energy-efficient separation and purification
• Cascading valorisation of lignin-rich side streams into: -
Biochar
-
Biochar-derived functional materials
We are looking for partners in:
• Agricultural residue suppliers and cooperatives
• Biomass logistics and supply chain optimisation experts
• Industrial biotechnology companies (fermentation scale-up)
• Enzyme and strain engineering specialists
• Downstream processing and purification technology providers
• Biochar processing and functional materials developers
• LCA and sustainability assessment experts
• Industrial end-users for product validation (bioplastics, surfactants, specialty chemicals)
• Regulatory and risk assessment specialists
