About
Aiming to participate in a proposal under HORIZON-JU-CBE-2026-IA-03 focused on the valorisation of woody residues, specifically cork by-products, into high-value bio-based additives for thermoplastic materials.
As illustrated in the concept image, the project will demonstrate an integrated process including:
• Drying and preprocessing of cork residues
• Compounding with thermoplastic matrices (e.g. ABS)
• Synergistic formulations with flame-retardant systems (e.g. APP)
• Compression molding and pilot-scale processing
• Production of flame-retardant thermoplastic panels and components
• Performance validation and material optimisation
We are looking for partners in:
-
Cork residue suppliers and forest cooperatives
-
Biomass preprocessing and drying technology providers
-
Polymer compounders and thermoplastic processors
-
Flame retardancy and fire testing laboratories
-
Injection/compression molding companies
-
LCA, eco-design and circularity experts
-
End-users in construction, automotive or consumer goods sectors
