Health Economy and Patient Preferences for better health outcomes

Asst.Prof. at International Islamic University Malaysia

Kuantan, Malaysia

About

I am a health economist seeking to apply health economics tools to improve patient outcomes across multiple diseases. I want to be part of a consortium where my expertise is used for observational studies and economic studies.

I am also interested in applying patient-reported outcome measures alongside clinical trials or clinical practice to measure health and improve patients' experience. It is of interest to me to explore the intersection between health economics and climate change to identify areas of potential discovery.

I am also interested in Medication utilisation research and how it can ba an indication of equality and equity as well as climate change contributor or protector.

  • Areas of interest & skill development: I am seeking to sharpen my competencies in study design and advanced quantitative/qualitative analysis for applied health‑economics questions—particularly methods for economic evaluation, preference elicitation/valuation, and real‑world utilization and equity analyses.

  • Previous projects:

    • A single‑centre study quantifying the burden of ischaemic heart disease, with a focus on resource use and outcomes.

    • A population valuation project using SF‑6D v2, employing best–worst scaling and Bayesian modelling to generate health‑state preference weights.

  • Ongoing work: I am leading an awarded study to quantify medication utilization in the university hospital and to examine equity in dispensing patterns across genders

  • Supervision & collaborations: Each year I supervise or co‑supervise several student projects (typically survey‑based or database analyses) and contribute to international systematic reviews related to health economics, and quality‑of‑life research.
