About
This topic has been selected by the Australian National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) -EU Collaborative Research Grant Scheme 2026. Through this scheme, NHMRC will offer approx. €280,000 to support the participation of Australian-based researchers in projects funded by the European Union under this topic. NHMRC co-funding is additional to the allocated EU budgets, allowing consortia to expand their proposed activity internationally without affecting EU budgets, making RMIT’s involvement a huge value add. Only Australian entities named on proposals selected for funding by the EU will be eligible to receive NHMRC co-funding.
The RMIT University researcher Dr. Tamara Borovica has expertise in interdisciplinary health research focused on psychosocial determinants of health, resilience and adaptation in the context of social, cultural and environmental stressors. She employs participatory and co-design methodologies to generate high-quality qualitative evidence on how climate and social pressures influence mental health and wellbeing, particularly among young people and marginalised populations. As Co-Director of HealthTalk Australia, she have led and contributed to projects that systematically collect and analyse lived experience data, translating this evidence into accessible resources that support health practice, service improvement, and equity-oriented care. These strengths position her to contribute meaningfully to climate–health research consortia by complementing epidemiological and environmental data with rigorous SSH insights, supporting inclusive prevention and resilience frameworks, and co-producing evidence that informs policy development and community-level adaptation strategies.
Why partner with RMIT University in NHMRC-EU Grants?
RMIT University, headquartered in Melbourne, is one of Australia’s largest universities with campuses in Melbourne and Vietnam and joint teaching and research collaborations throughout Asia.
