About

About us

Based in Barcelona, RMIT Europe (RMIT EU) is the innovation and collaboration hub of RMIT University (RMIT Uni), Australia.

Positioned as a bridge between Australia and Europe and embedded in the Catalan and Spanish innovation ecosystems, RMIT EU offers international researchers a fertile environment for career development within and beyond academia. Through a wide network of industrial partners and consolidated academic collaborations across Catalonia and Europe, the program leverages RMIT Uni’s scientific excellence and global reputation in regenerative research to catalyse EU–AU cooperation and knowledge transfer.

Research Strategy and Clusters: RMIT EU’s research strategy, aligned with RMIT Uni, centres on Regenerative Futures and is organised into four interconnected clusters:

  • Health Futures: Championing community-focused research into health literacies, mental wellbeing, social prescribing, and cultures of care to promote holistic health and wellbeing.

  • Cities & Communities: Cities & Communities: Leading efforts in decarbonisation and housing solutions, fostering regenerative and nature‑positive systems, and improving health across urban environments.

  • Sustainable and Resilient Infrastructures: Harnessing digital technologies and innovation in material design and manufacturing for sustainable water management, clean energy, mobility and civil engineering.

  • Culture & Creative Practice: Advancing designed research and practitioner-academic models, building on RMIT’s recognised leadership in architecture, urban planning, and creative disciplines.
