Integrated Behavioural and Digital Interventions for Primary Prevention of Non-Communicable Diseases in Youth
R&D&I Project Manager at FUNDACIÓN INTRAS
Valladolid, Spain
About
This project addresses the urgent need for primary prevention of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in young populations through a holistic, evidence-based, and user-centred approach. We combine behavioural science, AI-driven digital interventions, and participatory co-creation to enhance mental health, resilience, and life skills — key determinants of long-term well-being and NCD risk reduction.
Our methodology integrates:
Living Lab co-creation, ensuring interventions are contextually relevant, usable, and engaging. Young participants actively contribute to design, testing, and iterative refinement, bridging the gap between research and real-world application.
AI-supported digital tools and apps, which personalise interventions, track progress, and provide adaptive feedback, reinforcing behaviour change and engagement.
R&D and clinical expertise, including proof-of-concept studies, multi-centre trials, and usability testing (400+ participants), guaranteeing interventions are scientifically validated, effective, and ready for scale.
This integrated system ensures that all project components reinforce each other: behavioural strategies are amplified by technology, co-creation ensures relevance, and scientific validation guarantees effectiveness and scalability. The approach exemplifies innovative, evidence-driven primary prevention for youth NCDs.
The project will deliver measurable, high-value impact across health, social, and policy domains:
Youth Health and Well-Being: Improved mental health, resilience, and life skills, reducing NCD risk factors from early stages.
Digital Innovation: Development of AI-driven, user-centred digital interventions with proven usability and engagement.
Evidence-Based Policy: Generation of data and frameworks to inform European public health strategies, enabling scalable and transferable interventions across countries.
Societal Benefits: Promotes inclusive, participatory approaches to health promotion, empowering young people and fostering health literacy.
Sustainability and Scalability: Interventions designed for adaptation and deployment in diverse European contexts, ensuring long-term impact beyond the project lifetime.
By linking behavioural science, digital innovation, and participatory methodologies, the project bridges research, technology, and practice, producing interventions that are both scientifically robust and socially impactful.
Opportunities – What We Offer:
Expertise in R&D&I, including clinical studies, proof-of-concept, and large-scale trials (400+ patients).
Development and piloting of technological and community-based interventions for children, older adults, and vulnerable populations.
Innovative digital health solutions, including VR tools (GRADIOR Suite, Gradior Multisensorial) and assistive devices (Cama-Up, patented).
Experience in co-creation and participatory methodologies through Living Labs, ensuring usability, acceptability, and real-world impact.
Strong track record in cross-border European projects (MOAI LABS, INTECUM, COMFORTAGE, HENKO, SMILE) and collaboration with networks (EIT Health, Alzheimer Europe, ENoLL).
Support for scaling, sustainability, policy impact, and positive aging initiatives.
Opportunities – What We Are Looking For:
Partners for co-development of digital health solutions, assistive technologies, and VR-based interventions.
Collaboration on multi-centre clinical trials, proof-of-concept studies, and usability pilots.
Joint proposals in Horizon Europe or EU-funded innovation projects focused on mental health, youth, ageing, inclusion, and well-being.
Expertise exchange in co-creation methodologies, policy translation, and impact evaluation frameworks.
