Culturally Responsive Multidomain Dementia Prevention for Ageing Populations
Research Fellow at The University of Auckland
Auckland, New Zealand
About
We propose a multidisciplinary dementia prevention project addressing modifiable risk factors across diverse ageing populations, with a strong focus on cultural responsiveness, equity and real-world implementation. Dementia prevention evidence from large trials supports multifaceted interventions targeting nutrition, cardiovascular risk factors, physical activity, cognitive engagement and social participation. However, translation into culturally and linguistically diverse communities remains limited.
This project aims to co-design, implement and evaluate a scalable multidomain dementia prevention model tailored to different cultural contexts, including migrant and Indigenous populations. Core components will include culturally adapted dietary patterns aligned with Mediterranean and MIND diet principles, vascular risk management, physical and cognitive activity, and community-based health literacy interventions. The project will integrate mixed-methods evaluation, digital tools for delivery and monitoring, and health economic analyses to support sustainability and policy uptake.
We are seeking partners with complementary expertise, including:
-
European academic institutions with strengths in dementia prevention, epidemiology or intervention trials
-
Clinical and public health partners involved in ageing, primary care or chronic disease prevention
-
Digital health partners for intervention delivery and monitoring
-
Community organisations, NGOs or municipalities supporting older adults
-
Health economists and implementation science experts
