Customized macroporous multimaterials (including ceramics) structures as medical devices or bioreactor components

Programme Manager at Centre de Recherche de l'Industrie Belge de la Céramique

Mons, Belgium

About

At CRIBC, the digital and laser technologies are developed to manufacture ceramics materials with a full control of micro- and macro-architecture. Scaffolds, from size (few mm³ to tens of cm³) can be produced with complex external shape and controlled interconnected macroporosities, using ceramics, polymer/ceramics composites + multimaterials.

These materials can be adapted for bioreactors (fixed-bed, adherent cells) regarding their configuration. The control on thermal post-treatment, as well as laser texturing, can improve the efficience of the device by modifying the surface characteristics.
