Bandırma Municipality Interested in Collaborate Renewable Energy and Circular Economy Solutions

Bandırma Municipality, located in the South Marmara region of Türkiye, is looking to collaborate with European partners in upcoming EU-funded projects related to renewable energy, circular economy, and sustainable urban development.

Bandırma is a medium-sized port and industrial city with strong potential for pilot activities in energy transition and resource management. The municipality has been increasingly involved in climate and sustainability initiatives, including renewable energy applications, waste management improvements, and participation in international cooperation projects.

We are particularly interested in projects focusing on:

• renewable energy solutions in urban environments (solar, wind, hybrid systems)

• energy efficiency and smart energy management in municipal buildings

• circular economy and improved waste management systems

• innovative solutions that recover energy from non-recyclable waste

• sustainable fuels and solutions related to port activities and urban logistics

• citizen engagement and local participation in the energy transition

As a municipality, our main contribution to European projects is providing a real-life pilot environment where solutions can be tested and demonstrated. We can support project activities through local implementation, stakeholder engagement, access to municipal facilities, and monitoring of pilot actions.

Our technical capacity is mainly focused on facilitating demonstration activities and local implementation, while technology development would typically be led by research institutions and technology providers.

Bandırma Municipality would be happy to join consortia preparing proposals under programmes such as Horizon Europe, LIFE, Interreg NEXT MED, CET Partnership, and the European Urban Initiative.
