Near-Isothermal Compressed Air Energy Storage system based on liquid pistons and high performance heat exchanger
About
In order to mitigate the intermittency of Wind and Solar PV as well as stabilize the grid, we have imagined a compressed air energy storage system. Our ambition is to develop an electricity storage system that is cheaper that Electrochemical batteries for long durations (8 hours+), does not use any critical materials and can be located anywhere. It is based on fast near-isothermal compression/expansion cycles, enabled by liquid pistons and a proprietary heat exchanger, and above ground reservoirs. We look for partners for the following workpackages: thermodynamic simulation, CfD simulation, steelwork & machining (piping, parts...), flexible pumps and turbines, valves, high pressure gas reservoir (tanks, pipeline, cavern), safety engineering, energy management systems, regulatory studies, social acceptance inquiry, project coordination, cost estimation, market analysis, pricing simulation. Please note our system can be adapted to supply heat and cold instead or in addition of electricity, which are needed by industrial companies. Open to discuss this specific application.
