Telecom decarbonisation deploying novel solid hydrogen solutions for backup power
About
At the base of every cell tower around the globe sits a backup power unit, traditionally diesel . This represents a tremendous opportunity to decarbonise broadly using a hydrogen based solution while vastly improving the logistics of refueling and preventative maintenance.
Our Modular Hydrogen Storage and Production units generate pure hydrogen, on-demand from a solid carrier which has ideal properties for backup power:
-
Fuel is stable at normal pressure and temperature - can sit idle for prolonged periods without loss of fuel
-
Fuel is energy dense - easily refuel with a cartridge that can be hand carried, key for remote locations
-
Safe - eliminates the complexities and safety concerns of gaseous and liquified hydrogen
-
Directly feeds a fuel cell - creates a nearly maintenance free, reliable, zero emissions solution
-
Digitally enabled - IOT connectivity alerts company to performance parameters and fuel level eliminating the labor needed for in person PM
Aich2 has assembled partners in Sweden with leading edge fuel cell technology and connections to a large cell tower management company interested in testing this solution for their assets. This demonstration deployment will prove the superior technical performance and economics of our solution compared to legacy alternatives. We are seeking additional partners to complete the integration of components into a turn key solution, model the techno-economics for market competitiveness, build out the refueling infrastructure, and expand to other territories/countries across Europe.
