About
We, the institute for Power Systems Technology and Power Mechatronics (EneSys) at the Ruhr-University Bochum (RUB), are offering potential collaboration for a project in the area of grid-supporting and grid-forming buildings. With extensive expertise in control and energy systems engineering, EneSys utilizes its innovative and unique research-infrastructures for testing and validating control concepts under realistic conditions. Previous and ongoing projects like TESSE2B & EMSiQ showcase its proven capability in developing and implementing innovative energy management systems.
The overarching aim of the project is to unlock synergies between all stakeholders and different energy sectors inside buildings by various modernization and renovation measures. The synergies that will result from the various modernization measures will not only be used to reduce the basic energy consumption of the building, but also to provide flexibility to the grid. In addition, open-source software is to be developed that provides standardized suggestions and recommendations for modernization and renovation to fully exploit the potential. These results and the underlying optimizations and calculations are to be validated and tested using one or more demo sites.
