About

Our research group is equipped with state-of-the-art microfabrication systems, incorporating advanced ultraviolet (UV) lasers, femtosecond lasers, and high-precision air-bearing translation stages.

We conduct cutting-edge research in the field of advanced photonic sensors. Our work includes the development of fibre Bragg gratings, microchannels, microstructured optical fibres, planar photonic devices, and distributed fibre-optic sensing . These technologies enable the detection of a wide range of parameters, including temperature, strain, stress, biochemical markers, and environmental contaminants.

The applications of our photonic sensing technologies span several critical domains, including but not limited to:

  • Structural health monitoring

  • Food and agriculture

  • Environmental protection

  • Optical communications
