Site Visit 3 - Guided Tour of HIT Research Infrastructure and the Thessaloniki Smart Mobility Living Lab (ThSMLL)

This visit will take place at the Hellenic Institute of Transport (HIT) and its Thessaloniki Smart Mobility Living Lab (ThSMLL), one of Europe’s largest living labs for mobility innovation. Participants will explore how data from multiple sources (e.g. Bluetooth detectors, traffic loops, cameras, shared mobility systems, floating car data, and mobile phone data) are collected, integrated, and visualized to support services such as routing, traffic prediction, and real-time fleet management. The visit will also include a tour of HIT’s research infrastructure, featuring driving simulators, research vehicles, and the four-legged inspection robot “KYON”.

TRAVEL PLAN
- The group will travel together from the Forum venue to the CERTH/HIT premises as follows: Forum venue → 15-minute walk → 25 Martiou Metro Station → Metro to Nea Elvetia Station → Dedicated electric bus → CERTH/HIT premises
- Upon arrival at Nea Elvetia Station, the group will gather again at ground level, where a dedicated electric bus, arranged exclusively for the site visit participants, will be waiting to transfer participants directly to the CERTH/HIT premises.

Return Journey
- From CERTH/HIT premises → Dedicated electric bus → Nea Elvetia Metro Station
- The organised visit will conclude at Nea Elvetia Metro Station. From there, participants will be free to continue independently to their preferred destination. Nea Elvetia is directly connected by Metro to Thessaloniki city centre, providing an easy and convenient return journey.

IMPORTANT INFORMATIΟN
- Please be on time. Participants are kindly requested to arrive at the meeting point by 17:30. As the visit follows a fixed schedule and involves coordinated transfers, we can only allow a maximum waiting time of 5-7 minutes before the group departs.
- If you lose the group: If you become separated from the group while travelling by Metro, please proceed independently to Nea Elvetia Station and rejoin the group at the ground-level meeting point.
- Wear comfortable shoes. The journey includes an approximately 15-minute walk from the Forum venue to 25 Martiou Metro Station, so comfortable footwear is recommended.
