Through a network of collaborative Living Labs (LLs), the project will work to foster transferability that applies an intersectional view of transport system users. With this equity-centered approach, SPINE aims to create more efficient, sustainable, resilient and inclusive public transport systems.
Co-creation activities will take place in the four Lead City LLs - Antwerp, Bologna, Tallin, and Las Palmas - where multiple stakeholders will help inform the development of efficient, replicable, and socially acceptable innovative mobility solutions.
The SPINE approach involves the creation of:
-
innovative simulation and Digital Twining (DT) tools, along with open data and behavioural models, that will allow the building of scenarios combining different mobility interventions and the implementation of the most promising ones;
-
data-driven impact assessment models that will foster the twinning, transferability and adaptation of the successful solutions of the four LLs in seven Twining Cities.
The successful solutions developed in the four LLs will be adapted and transferred to seven Twining Cities – Barreiro, Valladolid, Zilina, Sibenik, Heraklion, Gdynia, and Rouen.
SPINE sets an ambitious plan for the co-design and implementation of 55 smart, sustainable and inclusive mobility solutions.
eBRT2030
About eBRT2030
eBRT2030 (European Bus Rapid Transit of 2030: electrified, automated, connected) seeks to support sustainable urban transport by proposing innovative solutions for electric Bus Rapid Transit (BRT). The eBRT2030 project will create a New Generation of advanced full electric, urban and peri-urban European Bus Rapid enhanced with novel automation and connectivity functionalities. These innovative solutions are piloted in 7 demonstrations in real-operations in Europe and outside Europe (in Latin America), and fully integrated in the whole urban mobility scenario. The final aim is the definition a new European concept of Bus Rapid Transit for year 2030, benefitting of evaluation, multiplication and replication of the real-operation test of innovations, that improve the performance of the whole European urban bus system

GOLIA is advancing the sustainable, digital and green transition with practical tools, methods and evidence-based recommendations to make transport systems more efficient, inclusive and environmentally friendly.
FEDORA
About FEDORA
Urban mobility faces fragmented management, a lack of standard protocols, and poor integration of micro-mobility and vulnerable road users. These gaps hinder efficient traffic control. In this context, the EU-funded FEDORA project will create a federated spaces platform that unites data, services, and tools for smarter traffic and network management. It enables precise sensing of demand and supply, optimises transport operations, and fosters adaptive learning in complex environments. By connecting with existing EU and national mobility strategies, FEDORA’s framework includes advanced data integration, traffic optimisation, and multi-modal simulations to test future scenarios. Its impact will be demonstrated across six diverse European regions (from Austria to Denmark), ensuring solutions fit varied urban and rural contexts.
MODALSHIFT
About MODALSHIFT
MODALSHIFT is developing a data-driven framework to help cities and transport stakeholders better coordinate freight and passenger mobility. By connecting data from transport infrastructure, logistics and mobility operators through a trusted Mobility Data Space, the project will enable more effective traffic monitoring, forecasting and multimodal decision-making.
MODALSHIFT combines innovative IoT solutions, secure data sharing and anonymisation, predictive and prescriptive analytics, digital twins and agent-based modelling to identify and test better ways of managing transport networks and multimodal hubs. The approach will be demonstrated in three real-world Case Studies in Trieste (Italy), Varna (Bulgaria) and Madrid (Spain), addressing different urban and transport contexts.
The project aims to improve traffic event detection, reduce interconnection and transshipment delays, and support a shift towards low-carbon, active and shared mobility. By bringing together transport authorities, infrastructure managers, logistics and mobility operators, MODALSHIFT will demonstrate how trusted data and collaborative decision-making can contribute to less congested, more efficient and more inclusive urban transport systems.
