Towards Sustainable Hand in Hand Tourism and Mobility Planning
This mobility-tourism interface workshop will explore emerging European strategies and innovative approaches that support the transition toward more sustainable, balanced and environmentally responsible tourism models placing sustainable mobility at the heart of tourism planning. Through expert presentations, participants will gain insights into the evolution of the EU sustainable tourism strategy, the role of smart solutions as the PortCREW platform and the ‘Tourism as a Service (TAAS)’ approach and new concepts linking sustainable mobility and tourism services. Special attention will be given to the challenges destinations face in managing increasing tourism demand while protecting local communities, cultural identity, environmental resources and quality of life. Participants will be mobilized to exchange views on possible actions and policy measures, including integrated tourism and mobility planning, low-emission transport solutions, digital tools for visitor management, stronger community engagement, sustainable cruise tourism practices and collaborative governance models that can support resilient and sustainable destinations.
