Executive Secretary at Intermunicipal Community of Coimbra Region
Coimbra Region, Portugal
About
The Intermunicipal Community of Coimbra Region (CIM-RC) is a public authority representing 19 municipalities in central Portugal, with strong experience in territorial governance, regional development and EU-funded projects. CIM-RC acts as an Intermediate Body of the “Centro 2030” Programme and implements integrated territorial strategies focused on social cohesion, innovation and sustainable rural development.
CIM-RC is interested in joining a consortium under the Horizon Europe topic HORIZON-CL6-2026-02-COMMUNITIES-01 – Boosting sustainable competitiveness in rural areas through innovation.
The proposal context addresses the need to strengthen rural competitiveness while ensuring social, economic and environmental sustainability. It focuses on improving rural attractiveness, quality of life and resilience in areas affected by demographic change, particularly in remote and peripheral regions.
In line with the call objectives, CIM-RC can contribute by providing real-world territorial contexts for testing and implementing innovative rural development approaches. The region offers diverse rural and semi-rural territories suitable for piloting solutions related to service accessibility, innovation ecosystems and local governance.
CIM-RC is particularly interested in contributing to:
-
development and testing of place-based rural innovation strategies;
-
support to rural entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystems;
-
promotion of skills development and capacity building in rural communities;
-
strengthening links between local authorities, education and innovation actors.
This contribution is grounded in the Integrated Territorial Development Strategy (EIDT 2021–2027), which promotes rural cohesion, digital transition, innovation and sustainable territorial development. CIM-RC has extensive experience in EU-funded projects and in fostering intermunicipal cooperation in rural development contexts.
CIM-RC aims to join a strong consortium to strengthen the proposal through territorial implementation capacity and ensure high policy relevance and real-world impact across European rural regions.
