About
RURALFOOD NEXUS aims to strengthen the sustainable competitiveness of rural areas by developing innovative digital tools and community-driven models that support short food supply chains and local economic ecosystems.
The project will integrate digital technologies such as data platforms, AI-supported analytics and transparency tools to improve cooperation between producers, communities and consumers. By combining technological innovation with participatory approaches, RURALFOOD NEXUS will help rural producers and SMEs improve market access, strengthen local value chains and increase resilience to economic and environmental challenges.
The project follows a multi-actor approach involving research institutions, municipalities, civil society organisations and technology providers. Pilot activities will be implemented in several rural territories across Europe to test the developed tools and co-create solutions with local stakeholders.
RURALFOOD NEXUS also aims to generate policy-relevant knowledge and practical replication models that can support rural innovation strategies and sustainable regional development across Europe.
The project contributes to the objectives of the Horizon Europe Cluster 6 call HORIZON-CL6-2026-02-COMMUNITIES-01: Boosting sustainable competitiveness in rural areas through innovation, supporting stronger rural innovation ecosystems, entrepreneurship and knowledge exchange.
