CL6-2026-BIODIV-04-two-stage | NbS payment infrastructure R&D — verification methodology, Pacific Rim

CEO Founder at Greenback Ltd

Auckland, New Zealand

About

Greenback is in active development of a nature-based solutions payment platform for regenerative organic farms in Aotearoa New Zealand. Our design integrates biodiversity, soil carbon, freshwater quality, and soil health into a single bundled outcome unit, aligned with ICVCM Core Carbon Principles, SD VISta Nature Framework, Accounting for Nature, and internationally recognised agricultural carbon methodologies. We have established a verification partnership with a government-owned agri-food assurance body and designed the governance framework — but the core scientific challenge of validating a bundled multi-indicator methodology at farm scale remains unsolved and is the research problem we are bringing to this consortium search.

Market validation is in place: we hold a signed letter of intent from an anchor offtaker — a leading certified organic food company operating across Asia Pacific — confirming commercial intent to purchase verified ecosystem services credits once the methodology is validated and the registry is operational. The research this consortium would undertake has a real buyer waiting for its output.

We are seeking partners with expertise in ecosystem services valuation, payment mechanism design, or nature-positive economy frameworks, where co-developing a rigorous, transferable bundling methodology with a Pacific Rim implementation case would strengthen the proposal's real-world impact evidence. We offer a genuine applied research problem, confirmed market demand, and a distinct Southern Hemisphere bioregion that no European-led consortium currently covers.
