About

Brief Project Summary: CRIPPM-Africa

Its aims to reduce pre- and post-harvest crop losses and improve food security in African agri-food systems through climate-resilient, integrated plant health solutions. Staple crops suffer major losses due to climate-sensitive pests, diseases, and poor post-harvest practices, while current control approaches remain fragmented and poorly adapted to climate change. The project integrates climate-smart agronomy, soil health management, precision IPM, biological control, digital decision-support systems, and eco-friendly post-harvest technologies. Using baseline surveys, AI-enabled pest and climate modeling, and participatory field trials, inclusive solutions wil be developed and scaled up.The project will reduce crop losses, improve productivity and food safety, lower pesticide use, and strengthen resilience and incomes of smallholders, with special emphasis on women and youth, while supporting evidence-based policy and sustainable agricultural transformation in Africa.
