Socio-economic and cultural determinants of healthy diets in ageing
assistant professor at Palacký University Olomouc
Olomouc, Czech Republic
About
Expertise contributes to the transformation towards fair, healthy and environment-friendly food systems, with a specific focus on healthy and sustainable diets for ageing populations.
Research-based insights are provided into how health status, socio-economic vulnerability and cultural contexts shape food choices among older adults, directly supporting the objective of empowering citizens to make sustainable, healthy and affordable dietary choices. This work aligns with the One Health approach, linking human health, social conditions and food systems sustainability.
Through cross-cultural and interdisciplinary research, expertise contributes to understanding food systems from primary production to consumption, particularly how policy, food environments and social inequalities influence dietary behaviour in later life. This knowledge supports evidence-based strategies relevant to Food 2030 priorities, the CAP objectives, and the Farm to Fork strategy, helping to ensure nutrition security while respecting planetary boundaries.
Experience strengthens R&I activities aiming to develop inclusive, resilient and sustainable food systems, with particular relevance for vulnerable and ageing populations across Europe.
