About

BETA Technological Center (https://betatechcenter.com/) is seeking to join a consortium preparing a proposal for HORIZON-CL6-2026-01-CIRCBIO-07: Advancing the European bio-based innovation enabled by biotechnology and biomanufacturing concepts. BETA brings a multi-unit, systems-oriented approach that integrates biotechnology, environmental technologies, sustainability assessment and governance to support the development and deployment of innovative bio-based value chains. BETA contributes to the design, development and optimisation of bio-based and biotechnological processes, including biological and physico-chemical transformations, resource recovery and process integration within biorefinery and biomanufacturing concepts. This expertise supports the efficient conversion of biomass and bio-based feedstocks into high-value products, while reducing waste and environmental impacts. Complementing technological development, BETA provides sustainability and systems-level assessment to evaluate environmental, economic and social performance across the value chain. This includes life-cycle thinking, circularity assessment, and analysis of scalability and market feasibility, ensuring that bio-based innovations are robust, safe and aligned with EU sustainability and circular economy objectives. BETA also contributes to value-chain integration and governance, supporting the alignment of technological innovation with regulatory frameworks, market requirements and stakeholder expectations. By combining process innovation with sustainability validation and governance analysis, BETA helps bridge the gap between laboratory-scale innovation and real-world deployment. Within a consortium, BETA can contribute to: (i) development and optimisation of biotechnological and biomanufacturing processes; (ii) integration of bio-based innovations into circular value chains; (iii) sustainability, safety and circularity assessment; and (iv) system-level analysis supporting upscaling and replication. This positions BETA as a strong partner for multidisciplinary projects advancing Europe’s bio-based and biomanufacturing capacity.

Projects related to this area of expertise include: CIRCULAR BIOCARBON, BIOFERTI+, RUNFASTER4EU. VioBond and PROSPER.
