BETA Technological Center (https://betatechcenter.com/) is seeking to join a consortium preparing a proposal for HORIZON-CL6-2026-01-CIRCBIO-05: Understanding biomass flows in Europe. Through its Sustainability Accounting & Optimisation unit, BETA contributes advanced expertise in quantifying, analysing, and modelling biomass flows across agri-food, bio-based, and territorial systems to support evidence-based circular bioeconomy strategies. The Sustainability Accounting & Optimisation Unit applies systems-based approaches, including material flow analysis, life cycle thinking, and sustainability indicators, to assess biomass availability, uses, trade-offs, and environmental impacts across scales. This enables robust analysis of current and future biomass demand scenarios, supporting policy-relevant insights aligned with climate, biodiversity, and resource-efficiency goals. BETA can support the development of harmonised methodologies, integration of spatial and sectoral data, and translation of biomass flow knowledge into actionable recommendations for policymakers and stakeholders. The center’s expertise ensures that biomass strategies are assessed not only in terms of efficiency, but also environmental integrity, social implications, and long-term resilience.
