Rural Sociology & Field Trials in Olive Sector

About Us: We are the Olive Research Institute based in İzmir, Türkiye. The Olive Research Institute is a public organization operating under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, conducting R&D activities for the olive and olive oil sector on a national scale.

Its primary duties are briefly as follows:

• Breeding and Cultivation: To develop new high-yielding, high-quality, and disease-resistant olive varieties and conduct adaptation studies.

• Food Technologies: To improve olive and olive oil processing techniques and establish quality criteria.

• Plant Health: To research control methods for olive diseases and pests.

• Agricultural Economics and Education: To conduct economic analyses of the sector, carry out market research, and provide technical training and extension support to producers.

As a public research institute, we have the capability to reach farmers throughout Türkiye, particularly in the Aegean Region, and conduct collaborative on-farm demonstrations. We maintain close contact with relevant stakeholders across the public and private sectors, as well as NGOs.
