The Olive Research Institute is a public organization operating under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, conducting R&D activities for the olive and olive oil sector on a national scale.
Its primary duties are briefly as follows:
Breeding and Cultivation: To develop new high-yielding, high-quality, and disease-resistant olive varieties and conduct adaptation studies.
Food Technologies: To improve olive and olive oil processing techniques and establish quality criteria.
Plant Health: To research control methods for olive diseases and pests.
Agricultural Economics and Education: To conduct economic analyses of the sector, carry out market research, and provide technical training and extension support to producers.
As an institution, we have the capability to reach farmers throughout Türkiye, particularly in the Aegean Region, and conduct collaborative on-farm demonstrations. We maintain close contact with relevant stakeholders across the public and private sectors, as well as NGOs. Given our country's large farming population and our institute’s high capacity of PhD-holding researchers, I believe we offer a wide range of opportunities for collaborative work.
On a personal note, I am particularly interested in projects focused on AI and digital transformation in rural areas. We are looking to participate in projects as a partner.
