About
The National Research and Development Institute for Animal Biology and Nutrition is the most important research unit and the only National Institute in the field of animal science in Romania.
We perform complex research-development activity in animal biology, nutrition, feed and food quality, biotechnology and microbiology of all species and categories of farm animals (from research to technological transfer).
The institute has experimental facilities for monogastric animal trials (digestibility and collective cages) and for ruminants (goats and sheep).
In terms of development, the institute features an industrial feed mill that caters to all species and categories of farm animals. The feed production includes compound feeds, protein-vitamin-mineral concentrates, vitamin-mineral mixtures, and medicated premixes.
The laboratories are equipped with facilities to analyse the nutritional content and quality of animal feeds, investigating microbial populations and biochemical processes related to animal health and nutrition; precise measurement of chemical components in biological samples; and studying the biological functions of animals.
