I am a physical oceanographer, expert in climate and marine litter transport analysis and modelling
I am a senior lecturer in the Department of Applied Physics II at the University of Malaga (UMA). I have 18 years of experience as a researcher. I obtained my PhD in 2012 and I have worked as a postdoctoral researcher in Puertos del Estado (institution responsible for the management of the Spanish network of ports and the Mediterranean Institute for Advanced Studies (IMEDEA-UIB-CSIC), a prestigious research institute in marine sciences, before rejoining the UMA as a lecturer in 2021.
My research interests are focused on physical oceanography. I have worked in both observational and computational oceanography. I am specialized in the analysis of climate models and, in recent years, I have developed a line of study of marine litter transport.
I am currently the PI of a project that analyzes the impact of marine debris pollution on the coast of Andalusia (southern Spain). In the framework of this project we have analyzed observational and numerical data, developed high resolution marine litter dispersion modeling systems, generated mixed model-observations tools and evaluated the uncertainties of marine litter sampling strategies in the western Mediterranean.
