The National Research and Development Institute for Animal Biology and Nutrition (IBNA - Balotesti) is the most important research unit and the only National Institute in the field of animal science in Romania. It is the only institute performing complex research-development activity in animal biology, nutrition, feed and food quality of all species and categories of farm animals (from research to technological transfer). The institute is equipped with experimental facilities for monogastric animal physiology trials, including digestibility stands and collective cages. In terms of development, the institute features an industrial feed mill that caters to all species and categories of farm animals. The feed production includes compound feeds, protein-vitamin-mineral concentrates, vitamin-mineral mixtures, and medicated premixes.
I am senior researcher and the head of the Feed and Food Quality Department at the National Research and Development Institute for Animal Nutrition and Biology. My research activity is mainly focused on nutritional improvement of animal food product quality (meat, eggs, milk) via feeding strategies based on local by-products rich in bioactive compounds; evaluation of feed additives (by-products from the agri-food industry) bioefficacy through laboratory experiments
