About
HORIZON-CL6-2026-01-CIRCBIO-01: Improving circularity of multilayer flexible plastic food contact packaging
The FoodChemPack (part of iMATUS Research Centre) is a Galician research group specialised in the chemical safety of food and food-contact materials. Their expertise covers the development and testing of active packaging materials, risk assessment of food contact materials, and chemical safety of food contact materials. More specifically, they can evaluate the chemical safety of different materials (including biodegradable ones) coming in contact with food; model migration kinetics and key diffusion parameters; develop analytical methods for specific substances (e.g. degradation products, reaction products, etc.) used in the manufacture of food contact materials; perform exposure assessment of chemicals transferred from food contact materials, and perform in vitro bio accessibility studies aimed at evaluating the impact of human diet on exposure to chemicals related to food contact materials.
FoodChemPack collaborates closely with industry stakeholders such as food producers, supermarkets and packaging manufacturers, enabling realistic pilot cases and rapid validation of solutions.
Depending on the project scope, FEUGA can also connect you with complementary Galician research groups or industrial partners working in food technologies or materials to strengthen the consortium.
