Ronald Turner

Bid Proposal Development Manager at CPI - Centre for Process Innovation

Glasgow, United Kingdom

About

CPI can offer a range of downstream processing capabilities to support varied Horizon cluster 6 projects. These include -

Extraction of bio-based products from fermentations – using a range of DSP unit operations across laboratory, pilot and demo-scale.

Product Recovery & Purification – A broad range of DSP equipment for aqueous and solvent based processing to achieve high purity and yields.

Formulation – Liquid or dry formulation. Drying techniques including freeze drying, fluidised bed and spray drying.

Flexibility and scalability – Process development through to scale verification for established and novel bio-based products.

Functionality Enhancement – including stability solutions, flavour masking, functional additives and conversion steps.

Engineering assessment – using process engineering design and modelling to assess production methods and progress biorefinery concepts inc. CFD modelling

Process analysis: Economic and technical feasibility assessments throughout process development to scale-up for high-value or bulk products.

Dedicated Food Grade Facility – at lab and pilot scale.

Recent Projects Included

  1. Hydrolysis/Extraction of high value compounds from seaweed

  2. Development of compostable bio-packaging from sustainably farmed seaweed

  3. Creating sustainable process for the utilisation of seaweed biomass.
