About
BioPower – Plant-based Protein Producer and Food Innovation SME
Organization Description:
BioPower is an innovative Polish SME specializing in the production of plant-based protein ingredients and functional food products based on legume crops . We operate under a sustainability-driven model, using biodegradable packaging and sourcing raw materials locally. Our in-house research and production facilities enable us to rapidly develop and validate new products and solutions.
Core Competences:
Experience in plant-based food processing and optimization of industrial production processes (including extrusion, fractionation, stabilization).
In-house R&D infrastructure allowing fast prototyping, application testing, and consumer validation.
Participation in R&D projects related to alternative proteins and biomaterials (e.g. mycelium-based, agri-waste-based).
Collaborations with research institutes (e.g. Łukasiewicz Network, Bioceum) and startups from the foodtech and biomaterials sectors.
Competence in integrating environmental, social, and economic aspects into sustainable product design (e.g. upcycling of side streams, circular economy modeling).
Areas of Interest in Horizon Europe – Cluster 6:
Food systems: development of sustainable, healthy and plant-based food products.
Circular bio-based economy: processing of high-protein crops and agri-food side streams into food, ingredients, and bio-based packaging.
Biodiversity & ecosystem services: solutions that support regenerative agriculture and local value chains.
Sustainable production and consumption: implementation of innovative market models, consumer engagement, and food system transitions.
Potential Role in Consortia:
Industrial partner (SME) for demonstration of processing technologies and pilot-scale deployment.
WP leader for tasks related to food innovation, communication, and market validation.
Contributor to work packages on life cycle assessment (LCA), socio-economic impact analysis, process scaling and replication.
