Production of bioactive molecules based on extremophiles using cost effective wastes

Hovik Panosyan

Associate Prof. at Yerevan State University

Yerevan, Armenia

About

·   Metagenomic studies of microbial communities of extreme environments (geothermal springs, alkali-saline soils, salt deposits)

·   Isolation of thermophilic and halophilic bacteria and archaea and its polyphasic identification based on phenotypic (including chemotaxonomy) characteristics and genome sequences

·   Biochemical features of extremophiles and adaptation mechanisms to harsh conditions (enzymes, metabolic pathways, lipid composition of membranes),

·   Biotechnological application (production of extremozymes (like hydrolases, DNA polymerases, keratinases), exopolysaccharides, polyhydroxyalkanoates based on cost effective agrowaste)
