About

DO IT IN BARMM
Discover Opportunities. Invest in the Bangsamoro. Build a Better Future.

“Do It in BARMM” is a promotional video of the Bangsamoro Board of Investments (BBOI-BARMM) showcasing the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) as an emerging destination for investment, enterprise, and sustainable economic development. The video highlights the region’s geographical diversity, abundant natural resources, cultural heritage, economic potential, and promising investment opportunities. It invites local and foreign investors, entrepreneurs, business leaders, and development partners to discover the opportunities in the Bangsamoro and become partners in building inclusive, sustainable, and resilient economic growth.

Located in the southernmost part of the Philippines, BARMM is composed of Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, Lanao del Sur, Basilan, and Tawi-Tawi, together with the Special Geographic Area (SGA). It also encompasses the cities of Marawi, Lamitan, and Cotabato City, with Cotabato City serving as the regional administrative center. The region is endowed with fertile agricultural lands, extensive marine resources, diverse ecosystems, and a rich cultural heritage. With the continuing efforts of the Bangsamoro Government to create an enabling environment for business, BARMM is positioning itself as a promising center for investment, production, trade, and economic growth in Mindanao.

The video presents the distinct investment potentials of each area. Maguindanao del Norte and Maguindanao del Sur offer opportunities in agriculture and agribusiness, particularly in rice, corn, tropical fruits, and other high-value crops. Their potential also extends to aquaculture, including tilapia and catfish production, as well as palm oil plantations and related processing industries. These resources create opportunities for value-adding, food processing, manufacturing, logistics, and market development.

Lanao del Sur, home to Lake Lanao, offers opportunities in renewable energy and hydropower, inland fisheries, timber and non-timber forest products, and ecotourism. Its natural landscapes, cultural heritage, and communities provide opportunities for responsible tourism and sustainable enterprises that can generate livelihoods while protecting the environment and preserving cultural assets.

Basilan is recognized for its strong agricultural base, particularly its rubber and coconut industries. These sectors present opportunities for agro-processing, value addition, manufacturing, and integrated supply chains. Investments that promote processing and finished products can strengthen local industries, generate employment, and increase the value of the province’s agricultural resources.

Tawi-Tawi, known for its significant seaweed industry, offers strong potential in marine-based enterprises, including seaweed processing, marine aquaculture, pearl farming, sustainable fisheries, and other blue economy initiatives. Its rich marine resources and strategic location provide opportunities for sustainable investments that balance economic development with responsible environmental management.

The Special Geographic Area offers opportunities in rice, corn, and vegetable farming, as well as infrastructure development, local trade, logistics, and other support services. Investments in these areas can improve connectivity, strengthen local markets, increase agricultural productivity, and expand economic opportunities for communities.

Beyond its resources and economic potential, BARMM is working to provide an increasingly supportive environment for investors. Through the Bangsamoro Board of Investments, investors can access investment promotion, facilitation, assistance, and aftercare services to help navigate the investment process and establish sustainable business operations. These efforts are intended to make BARMM more accessible, competitive, and investor-friendly.

The Bangsamoro investment framework provides fiscal and non-fiscal incentives to qualified investments. Fiscal incentives include an income tax holiday of up to seven (7) years and customs duty-free importation of capital equipment, raw materials, and supplies for up to seventeen (17) years, subject to applicable laws, regulations, and qualifications. Non-fiscal incentives include streamlined registration and processing, investment facilitation, coordination with relevant government agencies, and assistance in accessing government support programs.

The region’s priority industries include agriculture and agribusiness, fisheries and aquaculture, renewable energy, halal industry development, infrastructure and logistics, and ICT and telecommunications. These sectors offer opportunities for innovation, value creation, employment generation, and long-term economic development.
