Leipzig University, one of Germany's oldest and most prestigious institutions, offers a rich history and a vibrant academic environment in the heart of the eponymous city. Founded in 1409, the university has a long-standing tradition of excellence in teaching and research, counting among its former students and faculty such renowned figures as Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Friedrich Nietzsche, and former German Chancellor Angela Merkel. With over 30,000 students, including a significant international contingent, Leipzig University is a comprehensive institution with 14 faculties offering a wide array of programs in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and medicine. The university is particularly noted for its research in areas such as global studies, life sciences, and materials science. The university's campus is seamlessly integrated into the urban fabric of Leipzig, with historic and modern buildings situated throughout the city center. This close connection with the city provides students with a dynamic and culturally rich setting for their studies. The university also boasts a number of impressive facilities, including the Bibliotheca Albertina, one of Germany's largest university libraries, as well as several museums and the second-oldest botanical garden in the country. About me

Dr. Ahmed Abd El Wahed studied veterinary medicine at Mansoura University, Egypt. He received his PhD in biology from Goettingen University, Germany in 2011. He is the head of the laboratory at the Institute of Animal Hygiene and Veterinary Public Health, Leipzig University, Germany and Guest Professor at Badr University in Cairo, Egypt. He is a member of the steering committee of the German Alliance for Global Health Research, head of research at the German Society for Tropical Medicine, Travel Medicine and Global Health (DTG, e.V.), the scientific committee of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH), and one of founders of the Network for Young Researchers in Medical Infectious Diseases (Netzwerk JungeInfektionsmedizin). He is a member of the strategic and advisory committee of the WHO for Neglected tropical Diseases. He established a mobile suitcase laboratory for the rapid detection of viruses, bacteria, and parasites. His model has been deployed in several African and Asian countries.
