Founding Equity in a Johannesburg Sports Franchise — $100M Acquisition of an sanctioned Team Anchoring a Future Sports & Real Estate District
Managing Partner at Harlem Woodbine
Swedesboro, United States
About
Own a professional sports franchise in Africa’s economic capital.
Harlem Woodbine is acquiring a Basketball Africa League franchise in Johannesburg and offering founding equity to a select group of accredited investors and strategic partners. This is a chance to hold a scarce, appreciating asset in a market where franchise ownership has historically been closed to outside capital.
Why franchise ownership, why now
• Scarcity. Professional sports franchises are among the most supply-constrained asset classes in the world. This is one of a limited number of city-based franchises being awarded as the league transitions to permanent ownership — meaning today’s valuations reflect entry pricing, not mature-market pricing.
• Appreciation curve. Sports franchise values have consistently outpaced traditional equities over the past two decades. Founding-round investors capture the steepest part of that curve, before secondary markets price in the upside.
• Diversified revenue. This isn’t a single-stream bet. The franchise generates revenue across ticketing, media rights, sponsorship, merchandise, hospitality, and community programming — and anchors a Phase 2 real estate play across arena, hotel, and commercial development.
Why us
We are already operators. Harlem Woodbine has owned the Cape Town Tigers BAL franchise for four seasons, reaching back-to-back semifinals. We understand the ecosystem, the regulatory environment, the sponsorship market, and the operational playbook. Johannesburg is our strategic expansion — not our first rodeo.
Co-Founders: Natasha Camy (Forbes-featured; 16-year NCAA Division I official; 2026 Final Four) and Dr. Tim Vidale (Washington Business Journal Top 40 Under 40).
The structure
• Total raise: $100M
• Individual minimum: $1M
• Syndicate minimum: $5M
• Use of funds: franchise acquisition, operations, talent development, brand activation
