Connected Health in Turbulent Times: Innovating Resilient Systems Together
Healthcare is changing rapidly, driven by new technologies such as AI and digital solutions that are reshaping how care is delivered. These developments offer new opportunities to improve quality, increase efficiency, and make healthcare more accessible and affordable. At the same time, healthcare systems are facing increasing pressure, requiring more connected and adaptable approaches to move beyond pilots and implement solutions in practice.
In 2026, the theme of the Health Holland Visitors Programme reflects this need for more connected and resilient healthcare systems in an increasingly turbulent global context. It highlights key developments in medical technology, digitalisation, and AI, with a strong focus on how these innovations can strengthen responsiveness and adaptability. The programme also emphasises the importance of global health collaboration and interconnected care ecosystems.
Subtheme 1 - AI & Digitalisation in Healthcare
AI and digital technologies are transforming healthcare delivery across the full care pathway. From diagnostics and clinical decision support to workflow optimisation and personalised care, these technologies are enabling healthcare systems to work smarter and more efficiently. As adoption accelerates, the focus is increasingly on interoperability, trust, and the effective implementation of solutions in real-world settings.
Subtheme 2 - MedTech & Innovation in Practice
Medical technologies are reshaping healthcare delivery by enabling earlier diagnosis, more precise treatment, and improved patient outcomes. Innovations in MedTech, often combined with digital and data-driven solutions, are helping to bring care closer to the patient and support more efficient clinical processes. The emphasis is shifting from development to real-world application and scaling of proven solutions.
Subtheme 3 - Health Systems Strengthening
Healthcare systems are under increasing pressure due to rising demand, workforce challenges, and growing complexity of care. To remain accessible and sustainable, systems need to evolve towards more efficient, integrated, and future-ready models of care. This includes strengthening capacity, improving collaboration, and enabling long-term resilience through innovation and smarter organisation of care.
