GRIGNOLINO DEL MONFERRATO CASALESE DOC
Sales Manager at TENUTA TENAGLIA
Serralunga di Crea, Italy
About
The odd sounding name of this wine might come from the dialect word grignola (i.e. seed); because of the low yield of its grape, Grignolino has always been a quite expensive wine, for the aristocratich. Today, in the young version, is a wine with carefree drinkability . Versatile, it makes excellent food-wine pairings possible thanks also to good freshness and soft tannins, wide range aromas, flowers, fruits and spices. Grignolino can be also an excellent summer time wine: chilling it, and serving it alongside summer lunch.
In the glass it has a light ruby red colour with hints of geranium red. Its fine morel fragrance reminds us of black pepper; on the palate it is pleasantly tannic and perfectly balanced with a lingering after-taste.
Grignolino is best served with appetizers, sausages, fish soup, fried foods, white meat, medium-aged cheese.
