Post-Secondary Maritime Education

Chief Operating Officer at The Gdynia Maritime School

Gdynia, Poland

About

Established in 1998, The Gdynia Maritime School is the first private maritime school in Poland. We provide post-secondary maritime education for candidates seeking a professional career at sea.

Students can choose between two professional education paths:

  • Merchant Navy Deck Officer – Navigation

  • Merchant Navy Engineer Officer – Marine Engineering

The programme lasts five semesters, equivalent to 2.5 years, and combines classroom education with practical maritime courses, simulator-based exercises and professional English-language training. During the programme, students complete 12 months of mandatory sea service, gaining real onboard experience and the opportunity to start earning while still studying.

A secondary-school leaving certificate is sufficient to apply, and passing the Polish Matura examination is not required. Our students are prepared for the examinations required to begin a professional career as Merchant Navy officers.

Education is delivered by experienced maritime professionals and supported by modern training facilities, maritime simulators and practical courses designed to prepare students for the realities of working aboard commercial vessels.

We welcome applications from future seafarers and cooperation with shipowners, crewing agencies and maritime companies interested in supporting the education, sea service and employment of the next generation of Merchant Navy officers.
