We are the Banská Bystrica Self-Governing Region (BBSR) , located in the heart of Slovakia. As a regional government, we are dedicated to ensuring the well-being and development of our community. Through strategic planning and collaboration with entities of quadriple helix principle, we strive to create work opportunities, improve quality of public services and support key stakeholders of regional development – municipalities to create socially inclusive region tackling and mitigating crisis consequences (COVID-19, aid for war refugees, energy crisis) in an effective way.
BBSR is involved also in international cooperation projects aiming in strenghtening mutual relations and developing common tools and strategies for risk management under the Program Interreg HUSK in the project called InReReDiRM on capacities coordination needed for responding, mitigating or preventing dangerous effects of crisis situations.
Since January 2023, BBSR implements VELUX project HELP UKRAINE concentrating on the most efficient instruments supporting social inclusion of Ukrainian refugees in Banska Bystricia region. Among them the most inevitable are the system of social services provision to a specific group of clients - refugees, the system of networking and coordinating the support from different organisations providing help to Ukrainian refugees in the region and organising local language courses for specific groups of UA refugees. These best practises we offer for sharing with potential project partner.
BBSK has successfully implemented several regional umbrella coordination models (e.g., in tourism, social services, career guidance). Among them the project Community - based social service centers as a tool of multilevel partnership for providing long-term care in Slovakia that was implemented in cooperation with partners the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Family of the SR, Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica, Slovakia and Cristiania University College in Oslo Bergen.
BBSR is looking for project partners interested in cooperation in the field of exchange of experiences of social innovations that relate to organisational structure of providing support to war refugees or regional development planning, social services providing and crisis situation preventing aiming in designing the common strategy how to tackle with war refugees and promote social cohesion in our countries. We prefer but do not rectrict the country of partner origin to be from Czech republic as our countries have many similar features. But also partners from other EU member countries are welcome.
