Managing director at Babymoon Africa, a branch of Gangarru Group (NL), focused on improving maternal and newborn health in Africa through Kangaroo Care.
Gangarru Group (Gangarru Baby, Gangarru Care & Babymoon Africa) owns and operates the patent on which a unique product has been developed, the Gangarru Baby Carrier, which is based entirely on the principle of Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC). In principle, this product is specifically designed for premature babies and offers a proven alternative to incubator care. The baby carrier can be used from birth to 1,000 days after birth, thus targeting both the clinical and consumer markets.
For the clinical market, Gangarru Care & Babymoon Africa, focuses on projects that involve conducting studies in collaboration with neonatologists and neonatology nurses and other healthcare professionals that take a closer look at and validate the application of our baby carriers in relation to Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) and replacement incubator care.
We distinguish between two projects here:
1. Baby Carrier Joey (1.0), the analog version baby carrier that has obtained MDR registration in 2025 in Tanzania and where the Netherlands will follow.
2. The Joey Smart Carrier. This project focuses on the further development of the Joey by equipping it with smart sensors embedded in/on the fabric that can measure and record baby's vital signs such as body temperature, heart rate and saturation and have them read out remotely via a cloud solution and a smart-app.
MISSION, VISION AND CORE VALUES
Mission
We connect ancient wisdom with modern technology to give parents and their children worldwide the best possible start, striving to make optimal care accessible to every baby, wherever their crib is in the world.
Vision
A world where every child has the opportunity for a healthy start, supported by innovative solutions that strengthen the natural bond between parent and child. Here we apply traditional wisdom and modern healthcare, which comes together in the scientifically proven methodology Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC), in order to optimize babies' development.
I'm a healthcare project manager from Tanzania living in the Netherlands, with a decade of experience in Sub-Saharan Africa and Europe. I support populations especially women and newborns by addressing their unique needs holistically, enhancing their well-being in every environment—home, community, or hospital. True health thrives when communities have access not just to care but to opportunities that empower and uplift them, particularly in underserved regions where the gaps are widest. I strive to bridge these gaps through partnerships, innovative solutions, and evidence-based strategies to deliver impactful programs that resonate at the heart of communities—where the need is greatest.
