General Directorate of Water Management, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Türkiye

The General Directorate of Water Management, operating under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Türkiye, is responsible for developing national policies, strategies and basin-scale plans for the protection, efficient use and sustainable management of water resources. Its activities cover river basin management, water quality protection, flood and drought risk management, climate change adaptation, water efficiency across all sectors, and the promotion of circular and innovative water solutions. The Directorate also supports digital transformation through real-time monitoring, early warning and decision-support systems, remote sensing and artificial intelligence applications. It actively participates in international cooperation and EU-funded projects, working with public institutions, municipalities, universities, research organisations, international bodies and technology companies.
