The EnGreDi team aims to make a significant contribution to people's health and both their local and global environment by leveraging the unique properties of mosses. To make this dream a reality, we are committed to addressing social and environmental issues just as much as economic ones. Instead of a single bottom line focused on earnings, EnGreDi measures success using a triple bottom line: People, Planet, and Prosperity.
Over
July 2020, we founded EnGreDi BV, standing for Enabling the Green Direction - which immediately indicates our mission.
Since then, we developed a technology platform for ecological moss cultivation, with financial support from Flanders Innovation & Entrepreneurship (VLAIO) and scientific support from the IN VITRO lab of Ghent University.
Our system enables sustainable applications in green roofs, facade greening, and botanical filtration while also unlocking the potential of moss-derived compounds for herbicides, fungicides, cosmetics, and nutrition.
This innovative technology offers a key advantage over conventional vegetative and generative cultivation methods by significantly accelerating production rates of high-quality, contaminant-free moss biomass. Moreover, it provides a sustainable alternative to meet rising market demand while preventing the overexploitation of natural areas.
With this cutting-edge bioreactor-based technology, EnGreDi is well-positioned to disrupt industry, tackle environmental challenges, and unlock new commercial markets.
