Myceen is a pioneering biotechnology and industrial company focused on developing high impact mycelium-based building materials. We specialize in creating carbon-negative, sustainable insulation solutions by upcycling organic industrial residues such as sawdust, wood chips, and straw, using mycelium as a natural binder that are abundant and vastly underused in Europe. Our vision is to establish a 21st-century industrial company that integrates cutting-edge materials, automated production lines, valorizes industrial byproducts, and offers high-value, ultra-low-footprint products. Our mission is to offer bio-based construction materials without green premium pricing to enable faster transition.
For example, we can offer a 4 times cheaper insulation material than current biobased virgin wood fibre insulation, plus with a better fire resistance. This is based on using 20 times cheaper saw dust leftovers rather than virgin wood, using our own infinite source of natural glue/binder (mycelium) instead of chemical adhesives, and energy-efficient production since the main binding process happens at nearly room temperature. Compared to mineral wools we lower the carbon footprint drastically and offer better humidity and temperature stability, as well as better acoustic performance.
