About

BFT is a biotechnology startup developing circular solutions for one of the most challenging waste streams in Europe: mixed textile waste. The company has developed a proprietary biotechnological process that converts unsorted and dyed textiles into valuable bio-based resources, including fermentable sugars and recovered synthetic fibres.

By working with real, post-consumer textile waste, BFT addresses a major gap left by existing recycling systems, which often rely on clean, mono-material inputs and energy-intensive processes. BFT’s approach enables lower environmental impact, reduced emissions, and better use of existing waste infrastructure.

The company operates at the intersection of biotechnology, waste management, and the circular economy, serving municipalities, waste operators, and industrial partners seeking compliant, scalable solutions under new European sustainability and Extended Producer Responsibility regulations. BFT’s mission is to turn unavoidable waste into high-value resources and support the transition toward resilient, circular material systems.
